PHILADELPHIA — Veteran Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson, a six-time Pro Bowl selection, is expected to miss extended time after suffering a Lisfranc injury in his right foot during Sunday night’s win over the Detroit Lions, a team source confirmed Monday after multiple reports.
It is another major blow to an offensive line that has been battling injuries all season.
The Lisfranc joint, named for a French surgeon in the 1700s, involves the bones and tendons on the top of the foot toward the middle. It is a complex area of the foot with many intersecting parts that affect one another.
Johnson left in the first quarter after a Saquon Barkley run on a third-and-short was stopped. He spent a brief stretch in the blue medical tent before walking to the locker room and was eventually ruled out for the remainder of the game. Fred Johnson finished the night in his place.
The team initially announced only that Lane Johnson had a foot injury, but further testing Monday revealed a Lisfranc issue. Multiple reports indicated the injury is not considered season-ending but is expected to sideline him for roughly four to six weeks — landing him on injured reserve.
Lane Johnson’s absence changes the look and feel of an offense that has already been uneven in 2025. The 35-year-old entered Week 11 having not allowed a sack or quarterback hit this season.
The Eagles have already cycled through different combinations. Center Cam Jurgens just returned from a knee injury against Detroit and isn’t near full health. Guards Landon Dickerson and Tyler Steen have both appeared on recent injury reports with quad, knee and oblique issues. Now the team must prepare for upcoming games with Lane Johnson sidelined and Fred Johnson in an expanded role.
